One part of the National Maritime Museum is the Royal Observatory. It is home to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and has the Prime Meridian Line through it. It was founded by King Charles II in 1675. The goals for the observatory were to promote safer navigation. This observatory is steeped in history, with some of the first telescopes and astronomical instruments. One can also stand on both sides of the Prime Meridian. There is a large 200 acre park in SE10. Greenwich Park is filled with paths to walk around, which makes a great day out on a nice day. During the 2012 Summer Olympics, this park will host equestrian events. SE10 is home to the Old Royal Naval College. It is the architectural centrepiece of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site. It is said to be the finest and most dramatically sited architectural and landscape ensemble in the British Isles. SE10 houses the only museum in the whole world devoted entirely to fans. The Fan Museum has a collection of over 3,500 antique fans from all over the world. Some date back to the 11th century. Public transport in the centre of Greenwich includes numerous bus services, a DLR line and an underground station. Another DLR station, Cutty Sark, is closer to the tourist attractions.
